Resource Teachers of Learning and Behaviour
Working in a
collaborative consultation model, the RTLBs work within the Resource Teacher
Learning and Behaviour Policy and Toolkit 2007 framework. RTLBs work with
teachers to manage the behaviour and/or address the learning issues of a class,
group or individual student. The RTLBs assist the teachers to develop inclusive
classroom environments, and facilitate team problem solving. Referral to the
RTLB service is made by the school

Resource Teacher Literacy will provide expertise and advice to support
the strong first teaching of literacy and specialist help for those
students who will benefit from more intensive specialised teaching.
They may work with individual students, groups or with the whole
school system.
The RT:Lit approach involves collaborative problem solving within
schools, with parents and community members, with teachers and with
students themselves, and includes effective assessment and
intervention strategies.
RT:Lit may;
- support
teachers - through modeling effective teaching strategies and
assist with classroom management strategies
- help students
develop independent strategies
- help set up
school wide programmes such as peer tutoring, HPP ....

Truancy service

The Truancy
Officer visits schools, families and students who are not attending a school.
She works to encourage students back into regular education, with support from
CYFS and the Youth Aid officer if necessary. Service is provided throughout
South and West Otago.
