Resource teachers of learning and behaviour
resource teacher of literacy
attendance service

We are lucky to be the host school for the district attendance service , the RTLB's and a RTLit. These specialist services work across  the South Otago and West Otago district.
While the RTLB in our district work from our site they are employed through Tahuna Intermediate school in Dunedin.
The services for the RTLit and RTLB must be referred by a classroom teacher or other professional.
Resource Teacher Literacy
Diane Grant
Resource Teachers of Literacy (RTLit) provide specialised literacy assistance to learners in years 1 to 8 who are experiencing difficulties with literacy learning.
RTLit provide English reading literacy, written literacy, and oral language support to teachers of identified students or the targeted students.
They may work with individual students, groups or with the whole school system.
The RT:Lit approach involves collaborative problem solving within schools, with parents and community members, with teachers and with students themselves, and includes effective assessment and intervention strategies.
RT:Lit may;
  • support teachers - through modelling effective teaching strategies and assist with classroom management strategies
  • help students develop independent strategies
  • help set up school wide programmes such as peer tutoring, HPP

Resource Teachers of Learning and Behaviour
Christine Cutler and  Kerren Crawford. We currently have a vacancy for an RTLB in the district
The national RTLB service works together with teachers and schools to find solutions that support students in Years 1-10 who have learning and/or behaviour difficulties. These solutions may go beyond the individual student and also benefit the teacher, whole class, groups of students and/or the whole school. RTLB have a particular focus on supporting Māori students, Pasifika students and children and young people moving into State care.

Attendance Service
Mrs Sandra Keach works 11 hours a week supporting families and students to ensure Every Child attends School Every Day. Mrs Keach works with sector groups to reduce barriers that prevent children attending school
